The Vision

Fusion Optix was founded by Dr. Terence Yeo whilst living in Cambridge, England. From the start, Fusion Optix has been powered by his commitment and vision for Optical Innovation™. Dr. Yeo's early goal was to build a company driven by unique technology at the forefront of driving energy efficiency and design change in global markets. Disruption, invention, fundamental research, and new product development were also designed to essential elements of our corporate DNA. The company's target was to offer customers and partners alike a compelling combination of world beating product performance and price, a unique set of enabling technologies, and a company culture and skillset with strong market and applications knowledge, based upon a commited world-class team of talented, service minded and friendly people.

Incorporation & Investment (2003-2008)

The company was originally established in August 2003 as Fusion Optix Limited, a registered company in England and Wales. It was subsequently incorporated in Delaware, USA in December 2003 as a "C" Corporation and registered as Fusion Optix, Inc. The Company headquarters were moved to Boston in 2004 as a precursor to three equity funding rounds totalling $5.6M between December 2004 and May 2006. A final insider convertible debt round injected a further $1.7M in between January 2008 and July 2008, positioning the company for growth and scale-up. Fusion Optix investors include Goldman Sachs and Prudence Capital, as well as a group of Angel investors primarily from the Boston and Philadelphia area.

Focus & Growth (2008 - Present)

The Company has built on a strong early research and development heritage, with links to Cambridge University and MIT, through to several key innovations which have grown to become the unique CORE™ Platform. Following its initial R&D phase, the company began shipping products in volume in 2008 and has been profitable throughout its subsequent growth phase. The early focus of the Company was on the development and production of light diffusing films and projection screens for use in various display applications. These applications demanded precise control of light, high optical efficiency, and production processes that were capable of meeting the stringent quality demands of the display OEMs who were the early customers. More recently the Company has embraced the global push for energy efficient and greener technologies such as the light emitting diode (LED), organic light emitting diode (OLED) and solar power for use in next generation lighting and display products. Our focus has broadened to include the development and production of a wide range of products, including components and modules which are complimented by a range of development kits and reference designs. We also provide a wide range of services and support for our customers.

The Future

Fusion Optix is now a rapidly growing company with a customer list that includes some of the world's leading brands. At the heart of the company's offering are some of the world's most energy efficient components and modules. Our Energy Saving Optics™ (ESO™) range typically results in 5%-30% improvement in system efficiency and our integrated components and modules can achieve even higher levels. In addition to energy efficiency, in most product categories we also offer industry leading light management performance, color control and reliability. Our long term goal is to drive the "industry standards" for high performance advanced lighting and energy efficient products. The CORE™ Platform is protected by a growing portfolio of more than 75 patent families which have already generated more than 30 issued U.S. and international patents. We will continue to invest in building the CORE™ Platform and the commitment we have made to funding innovation at the optixlab™ and high quality, high volume manufacturing at the optixfab™.
