| The PF Series is a line of light collimating films that enhance lumen output. PF produces a light collimating effect by refracting light within a designed viewing cone, up to 35° off the perpendicular, toward the viewer. Light outside this viewing cone is reflected back into the fixture and recycled until it exits at the proper angle.
Fusion Optix Prism Film are made up of a prismatic structure coated on a polyester substrate.
When light moves between a prism and air, it bends based on the difference in the index of refraction (Snell’s law.) If light hits the prism with an angle near normal – total internal reflection (TIR) can occur- and light will be recycled into the backlight unit.
If the light hits the prismatic structure at a larger angle, it may exit the prism bend due to the change in the index of refraction and re-enter the film when it meets the next prism structure.
Most of the light (92+%) exits the film with the total effect of a unidirectional lensing effect increasing the brightness at the desired viewing angle.
